The Volkswagen Teramont didn’t make sense on the surface when it debuted a few years ago, considering the Touareg was still around. But it made perfect sense when you delved deeper into the specs sheet — compared to the 2-row Touareg, the Teramont had a third row of seating, and was actually larger and cheaper. While the latest Touareg moved even further upscale, the Teramont is holding the fort in the meat of the mid-size SUV market, going up against Ford Explorers and Nissan Pathfinders. And it has just received a nip-and-tuck for the 2021 model year.
A year and a half ago, the standard VW Golf went the way of the dodo in many markets, leaving behind only the hot GTI and R models. Now to fill in that gap, VW has brought in the 2022 Volkswagen Taos — a crossover that, according to VW, has “a lot of overlap in the use case” with the Golf. The Taos will slot in below the current entry-level Taigun in VW’s crossover lineup in some markets.
The hot versions of the VW Golf are always hotly anticipated, so it is with much fanfare that the 2022 VW Golf R and the Golf GTI Clubsport have been revealed, following the debut of the Golf GTI that is yet to be seen in the Middle East.
Here is the list of all major recalls announced around the globe in the past month.
Hard to believe that it’s been 8 years since the Volkswagen Passat’s last full redesign in 2012. That was the year when the European Passat and the American Passat diverged into two distinct cars, as the latter became a larger car with class-leading space for a midsize sedan, but also less sophisticated in terms of execution and features. The GCC market gets the American one. And it’s now on its second facelift, the first one being back in 2016.
The VW Arteon started life as “a stylish Passat,” even badged as the Passat CC initially, then dropping the Passat to become the VW CC before finally getting its own name. For the new year, 2021 VW Arteon gets minor changes, a new body style as well as oodles of performance, in the form of 2021 VW Arteon R. The irony is that the Arteon has been dropped from the Middle East line-up already due to slow sales and overpricing, but let’s not dwell on that.
The eighth-generation 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI has been revealed, with the company’s technical boss claiming that it’s more of a “true GTI” than the outgoing model.
The VW Golf is an iconic name with decades of legacy attached to it. The German conglomerate has finally lifted the covers off the new 2020 VW Golf, the eighth generation of the hatchback.
