Superminis are not a very happening segment in the Middle East. Yet some of them did trickle onto our soils, including the Volkswagen Polo. Though the hatchback is not sold here anymore, it gets a mid-cycle facelift in the global markets with an updated design and more technology.
The Volkswagen Polo hatchback was retracted from the GCC market in 2010 and since then, the German manufacturer hasn’t even spoken about bringing it back. And VW has now revealed the sixth generation of its popular supermini for the international market.
The VW Polo in its hatchback form, is a sub-compact which bade the GCC market goodbye just a few couple of years ago. However, it did continue its life in its home continent and some select markets, and has just received a facelift for 2014 which includes powertrain updates and more engine choices.
Volkswagen recently held a mega event for media, dealer staff and fleet customers last week at the Yas Marina circuit to celebrate their best ever sales period in the Middle East, witnessing 22% growth for 2012 over last year.
