The 2012 Toyota Camry is indeed the most anticipated midsize sedan to be launched this year. Between this, the Yaris, the Prado and the Land Cruiser, Toyota dominates a huge chunk of the GCC market. Does that make the new Toyota Camry the best family car in the market? Not by a long shot, although if you asked us, we wouldn’t be sure which one among the competition is better in every aspect.
The 2012 Toyota Camry is finally on sale in the UAE. The much-anticipated new model is a major upgrade of the outgoing one rather than a full redesign, and still hails from Australia. There is also a major shift in the trim levels.
Al Futtaim Motors, in collaboration with Arctic Trucks, officially introduced the expanded Xtreme product range during the recent 2011 Dubai Motor Show. Alongside the 2012 Land Cruiser Xtreme, there are now the FJ Cruiser Xtreme and the Hilux Xtreme.

The much-hyped Toyota FT-86 has finally been revealed, except that the marketeers have decided to rename the production version as the Toyota GT 86, after spending millions marketing the FT-86 name. Toyota’s new GT 86, with its name derived from the AE86-code Toyota Corolla GT-S of the 1980s, makes its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show on November 30. The compact 2+2 model will go on sale in Europe in June 2012, but is also slated to come to the Middle East. Incidentally, it will be known in Japan as the Toyota Hachiroku, which translates to simply Toyota 86.
As if Toyota’s problems never cease, the recent massive floods in Thailand show no signs of receding, and is affecting the automotive factories there, including that of Toyota. Toyota’s three Thai plants are undamaged, but suffering from a parts shortage. They have been shut down since October 10, and the closure will continue till the middle of November, according to Toyota.
The Toyota FT-86 gets all the attention, but the reality is that this new rear-wheel-drive sports car is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru, in the interests of cutting costs. This is the first time that the Subaru version is getting the spotlight, to be shown at upcoming auto shows.
A couple of pages from the the Japanese brochure of the production-version Toyota FT-86 has been leaked onto the net. Considering the absolutely random nature of the pages, we think this “leak” might even have been deliberate. Update: More leaked images added.
There is only so many ways that we can make a Toyota Yaris review interesting. The hottest new car of this year that will sell in droves no matter what we say, we were given the option to pick a colour, and we picked red. You know, like a Ferrari.
