After years of having an electric car range limited to the Leaf hatchback and an electric NV200 van, Nissan has unveiled the Ariya concept, a near-production electric SUV that’s going to rock the mid-priced EV segment.
The fact that we’re running out of fossil fuels isn’t a joke. As a matter of fact, we’ve seen car manufacturers across the globe tighten the screws a bit, to achieve better fuel economy. However, according to some, the future of zero emission and zero fossil fuels is not electric cars, but rather hydrogen fuel cells. And that is exactly what Toyota showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show last month.
The Nissan GT-R is in the fourth year of its life cycle, and throughout the period it has received numerous power upgrades and a slew of exclusive editions. However, its latest incarnation is in Nismo form and it takes cues from the GT3-spec racecar. The GT-R Nismo was officially unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition is ended to mark the end-of-life for the gull-winged sports car, as Mercedes will wrap up production next year. And the company showed it off at the 2013 Tokyo and Los Angeles Auto Shows simultaneously.
We can never be too sure, but if this turns out to be the next Mitsubishi Outlander, we wouldn’t be surprised. But for now, it’s given a clichéd boring nickname; the XR-PHEV. In any case, this is one of Mitsubishi’s offerings at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show this year.
Firstly, lets point out that Toyota isn’t doing all that bad in the Japanese taxi industry. However, their biggest rival at this point is Nissan, and in an attempt to overshadow the competition, Toyota is showcasing the new JPN Taxi Concept. The car was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show, and comes off as a riff on the legendary London Taxi.
The Tokyo Motor Show is the top automotive motorshow in Asia, and the 2013 edition kicked off on November 20 with an array of international debuts. Alongside parallel debuts with the L.A. Auto Show for the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, the Porsche Macan, the Mini Cooper and the Nissan GT-R Nismo, Tokyo also played host to numerous concepts, such as the Nissan BladeGlider, the Subaru Viziv, the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV, the Ken Okuyama Design Kode9, the Daihatsu Kopen, the Honda S660 and the Nissan IDx Freeflow. We’ve not heard much about Daihatsu in the recent past. There’s the Sirion, there’s the Terios and that’s pretty much it. However, things are going to be spiced up a bit, as they are all set to make a sporting comeback with the new Kopen, shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show this week.
