AW Rostamani Group (AWR), one of the UAE’s leading family-owned Conglomerates, announces its strategic partnership with smart, the new-premium intelligent all-electric auto brand. This alliance, initially cemented with a Memorandum of Understanding in September, was celebrated with a signing ceremony on December 11 in Dubai, symbolizing a significant step in AW Rostamani Group’s commitment to the electrification of the UAE’s automotive market.
Smart recently unveiled two new models – the ForTwo and ForFour. The name of the cars indicate whether its a 2-door or 4-door version.
We’re no strangers to Mercedes-Benz prototypes milling around our home-base in Dubai, although capturing them on camera isn’t always possible, given how quickly the moment passes. Reader Ayub Kazia, among others, have sent us photos of the next-generation Smart ForTwo, a car that never got started in the GCC.
Here’s something to inflame the bearded folks. A whopping 19 teenage girls stuffed into a two-seater Smart ForTwo to set a new world record. For the Guiness Book of World Records. In Pakistan. Who would’ve thought that the country to beat the previous record of 18 by Australia would be Pakistan? And girls, no less.
While browsing our own website, we came across Google Adsense text ads by Mercedes-Benz that links to a survey. The online form seems to be gauging interest for the possible launch of the Smart ForTwo micro-car in the UAE.
As is, a Smart car is a rather dimwitted little ride for people who can’t park. But with a few mods that include a Hayabusa superbike engine, stiffer suspension and stronger front brakes, it becomes the ultimate freak show at any stunt festival.
