2017 Porsche Panamera officially revealed

Porsche has finally done it. With the need to increase performance while also improving fuel economy numbers in line with upcoming worldwide legislations, Porsche has taken the turbocharged route with their new Boxster and 911 models. We got a chance to drive these two models at an event in Abu Dhabi recently.
After bringing out the 718 Boxster, Porsche has pulled the covers off their new model, the 2017 718 Cayman, at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. The new Cayman will be priced lower than the Boxster, making it the first Cayman to be less expensive than the Boxster convertible.

Porsche is going to rebadge their Boxster and Cayman as “718” models this year, complete with 4-cylinder turbo engines, the first of which have just been revealed. However, the GTS models will get a stay of execution from the turbo era for now. We drove the last of these naturally-aspirated mid-engined Porsches late last year in Stuttgart, Germany.

With all the hoopla over higher petrol prices, there’s a lot of talk about hybrid cars in general. We’ve never had any interest in the Porsche Panamera before, for obvious reasons, but when the Dubai dealership offered us a plug-in hybrid version of the same car, we were all for trying it out, especially since we had the car for the better part of a week to put it through various scenarios.
Porsche showed off the Mission E Concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, hinting at what the midsize sedan model will look like in the near future, one that takes on the likes of the Tesla Model S.
Porsche has revealed the 2016 911 Carrera, ahead of its official world debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The main talking point is the engine though, with a new turbocharged engine which significantly improves performance over the outgoing model. Just to get an idea of how much better the performance is over the old model, the new 911 Carrera is 10 seconds faster in the famous Nurburgring track in Germany.
