It’s clearly not a Pathfinder, nor is it your average Duster. But what we have here is essentially a visual cross between the two — the new Nissan Terrano.

Who would’ve thought that the all-new 2014 Nissan Tiida would be one of the most anticipated cars of this year. When we drove the new BMW 335i last year, not even one soul even bothered to give it a first look, let alone a second one. On the other hand, people kept staring at our Tiida, and a few even came up to us to ask about it.

Almost every car enthusiast would be familiar of the Terrano moniker, an off-road capable mid-size SUV from Nissan, that was offered during the 90’s and early 2000’s, and which is still not entirely extinct. It was later taken off the production lines, giving way for the newer range of Nissan SUVs. Carmakers share so many standardised parts due to having common parts suppliers nowadays that if one of these bits turn out to be faulty, several unrelated car brands are affected. Such is the case with the latest mass recall of 3.4 million vehicles produced by four unrelated Japanese carmakers between 2000 and 2004 for faulty airbags produced by parts-supplier Takata Corp. Information is also emerging that General Motors and BMW may also be affected.
Nissan have followed up the launch of the all-new 2013 Pathfinder with the debut of the fuel-saving 2014 hybrid variant, which was revealed at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
