Our Nissan Patrol LE went in for its first “free” service recently, after the 1000 km break-in period. While we were booking the dealer appointment in Dubai, the lady on the phone started upselling certain accessories to us. Normally we avoid upsells, but she just happened to be offering exactly what we were after.
The exterior as well as the interior are familiar. It feels like being back home. Everything we know about the Nissan Patrol is here. And we know a lot, since we bought one earlier this year. But ours is the LE V8. This is the new Patrol SE V6, a replacement for the discontinued SE V8. And the only way you can tell the difference is when you mash the throttle pedal.
It’s happened. The 2017 Nissan Patrol is now available with a V6 engine, as the existing 317 hp Patrol SE V8 has already been discontinued. And the V6 is already in Dubai showrooms quietly on display in the UAE.
If you’re a regular reader, you may have already come across our numerous social-media posts harping about our new acquisition. Our brand new 2014 “zero kilometre” Nissan Patrol LE is still being broken in until it hits 1000 km, but until then, we got some essential work done on it.
When the current Y62-generation of the Nissan Patrol had its world debut right here in the UAE back in 2010, there was speculation, even from dealer salesmen, that a V6 model will eventually be offered, slotting in under the two V8 offerings. Here is the first proof that this mythical V6 was actually on the cards.
Having let go of our Range Rover, we were on the look-out for a three-row SUV that could fit up to 7 people. Requirements change, and now that my second child was born a month ago, I’d have run out of space once my parents come to stay with us for babysitting duties. Car-shopping is easily one of the most awful processes you can go through, especially when it comes to used cars. However, the bigger story is why we bought this 2014 Nissan Patrol LE — with zero mileage and a full dealer warranty!
The Nissan Armada has been dragging on unchanged for more than a decade. While it is nowhere near as legendary as its long shelf-life suggests, the Armada is finally getting a change for the better, as the 2017 model has just been unveiled for the U.S. market at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show — and it’s just become a rebadged Patrol.
The Nissan Patrol is probably the first proper car in the history of the world to be designed specifically for the Gulf, right from the design stage. How else would you explain its massive size, its V8-only engine choices, its ample space and its overkill of a/c vents all the way to the third-row seats. We’ve already reviewed the regular Nissan Patrol, so we’ll jump straight into what makes this latest version unique — the Nissan Patrol Desert Edition, brought to you by local rally legend Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
Nissan unveiled the Patrol Desert Edition at the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show. Created specifically for this region, it was apparently designed with the help of former Middle East rally champion, Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
