Nissan Leaf has been one of the vehicles that pioneered the electric car mass market. Launched almost a decade ago, the Leaf has been synonymous with affordable electric mobility, in the same vein as the Toyota Prius has been to hybrids. But the Leaf was considered to be uninspiring to drive, despite being futuristic. Now though, Nissan lifted the covers off a different version of Leaf, which is nothing like the existing ones.
Till date, the name NISMO has been synonymous with performance. Proudly worn by many performance oriented machines from Nissan, the NISMO moniker was celebrated by petrolheads. Now, another car from Nissan’s stable has worn the same badge, but this time there will be no firepower as it is electric. Welcome the 2019 Nissan Leaf NISMO, which will debut in Japan.
Nissan has finally uncovered their new 2018 Leaf electric hatchback at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 2018 Nissan Leaf comes with a completely overhauled design and better range. Though there are two models with different battery capacities, 40 kWh and 60 kWh, Nissan stressed mostly on the former, probably saving the latter (called the E-Plus) for another session.
The electric Nissan Leaf was the darling of the EV industry, slapping the Chevy Volt in the face with its lower price as it took the top spot in U.S. electric-vehicle sales. However, a major issue with heat is starting to emerge, and that makes any sort of debut in the Middle East unlikely.
Nissan has announced that a 100% electric compact van, the e-NV200, will go into production at its Barcelona plant in 2013.
Nissan is pushing for bigger sales numbers for their electric car, the Leaf, by introducing a few changes to the car itself and increased distribution.
Nissan has unveiled their first affordable, zero-emission car. Titled the Nissan LEAF, it is a “medium-size hatchback” that comfortably seats five adults and has a range of more than 160 km to satisfy real-world consumer requirements. And the most interesting part is it is almost ready for production, and slated for consumer release in late 2010.
