Using a McLaren as a daily driver was a distant dream for the ones who could afford one. Until now. McLaren has come up with a softer and less hard-core version of its 570S supercar to produce the new 570GT which is made with everyday use in mind, with changes to the roof, rear wing and rear deck.
McLaren GT, the GT race car manufacturing arm of McLaren Automotive has revealed the 2016 spec Mclaren 650S GT3, the successor to the 2015 650S GT3 which amassed a win last weekend at the Bathurst 12 Hour with the #59 Tekno McLaren driven by Shane van Gisbergen, Alvaro Parente, and Jono Webb. The new GT3 will receive a proper welcome at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
When you think “entry-level,” it conjures up images of Hyundai Accents and call-centre workers. However, in the world of premium cars, even “entry-level” has a wholly different meaning. And we’re not talking about stuff like BMW and their 1.6-litre 1-Series. We’re talking about McLaren and their new 570S, part of their entry-level Sports Series cars that are positioned as a rival to the Porsche 911 Turbo S, which is essentially the flagship of Stuttgart’s legendary rear-engined range.
The McLaren 675LT is the limited-edition “Long Tail” version of the 650S, featuring lighter weight, more power and extra-aggressive styling. With only 500 being built in this coupe form, the car already sold out within months of its debut this summer. So it came as a surprise that McLaren offered us an all-too-brief test-drive with one.
McLaren has officially unveiled the new 675LT Spider; a hard-top convertible version of the 675LT coupe. The 675LT breed of supercars are intended to be track focused versions of the 650S.
McLaren have released their latest creation, the 540C at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. It is the second release from the Sports Series lineup after the 570S and is set to be the lowest-priced McLaren on offer.
McLaren have officially revealed the 570S Coupe which is set to debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show. It is the first release from its Sport Series range.
This here is McLaren’s upcoming Sports Series model, their new entry-level sports car that will still be high-end enough to compete with the Porsche 911 GT3, the Audi R8 and the Mercedes-AMG GT.
McLaren Automotive has announced what they calls their “first regionally tailored model aimed at the Asian market.” Dubbed the McLaren 625C, it looks exactly like the 650S.
“Why’s everybody staring?” asks my passenger. “Of course everybody’s staring. It’s a McLaren.” “But no one’s taking any pictures.” And that’s true. When we had the previous MP4-12C parked anywhere, it caused hordes of impromptu-paparazzi to teleport from out of nowhere to pose with the car and take photos. This time, our 650S Spider tester should’ve been even more of a selfie-attraction, with its P1-derived front-end and bright-orange paintjob. But based on what we noticed, maybe McLaren-fatigue is setting in among the general public, as the 650S doesn’t appear to be anything more than a facelift of a 2-year-old model.
