The midsize segment has always been a bit of a snooze-fest, but the offerings have become more interesting in recent times. Many brands now have great products with good design, luxury features and entertaining handling. But while some are giving up the niche in favour of crossover SUVs, Hyundai has doubled up with a new Sonata that seems to be pulling design ideas from the premium segment into the affordable mainstream. We were invited to South Korea for a week in which we got to take a spin in the all-new 2020 Sonata.
Right on the heels of the 2019 Hyundai Sonata that was released recently, the Korean manufacturer adds turbo and hybrid models to the lineup. The new Sonata Turbo and Sonata Hybrid, released at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show, add the much-needed variety to the sedate sedan’s lineup.
“Sensuous Sportiness”. That’s the name of the new design language Hyundai debuts with the reveal of the all-new eighth-generation 2020 Hyundai Sonata at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. This new design gives the Sonata a near four-door coupe look. But has it taken away the practicality of the sedan?

Yes, still almost! It is definitely not the overall best mid-sizer out there. But that said,
