Back in January, Ford gave their fairly new sixth-generation Mustang a facelift for the 2018 model year. And now, more details of the updated Mustang has surfaced. The specs suggest that the 2018 Ford Mustang GT will be the fastest mainstream Ford Mustang ever built.
The last time we did a muscle-car comparo back in 2011, the Mustang still had the suspension of a bullock cart, the Camaro was a heavy tank with slit windows, and the Challenger was the size of the Titanic. Fast-forward to 2017, and the Mustang has now become a refined tea-sipping aristocrat; the Camaro is a lighter, smaller car with even slittier windows; and the Challenger is still the size of the Titanic, except with better everything under the skin. The current Ford Mustang GT is quite possibly the best all-rounder sports coupe to come out of America ever. And while it’s still pretty fresh, having hit the GCC only in 2015, there is a facelift on the way for 2018. However, the 2017 iteration has a few upgrades of its own that are worthy of attention.

The 2015 Middle East Car Of the Year (MECOTY) concluded recently with the results being announced at a gala dinner held at the Raffles Hotel in Dubai. The final winners were decided by totalling the scores of a jury panel from 12 different publications around the Middle East, including DriveArabia.com. Individual awards were given to cars according to their categories, with the main 2015 Middle East Car Of The Year award going to the Ford Mustang.
Ford has revealed details on the 2016 Mustang. As expected changes are minor and mostly include added styling options.
Some say it’s blasphemous to have a Ford Mustang with anything less than a V8. And yet, most of the Mustangs running around the UAE are of the V6 variety. True, the V6 used to be a joke, but it has held its own in the performance stakes for a good while now, easily matching up with older V8 versions of the Mustang. And now, with 2015 bringing us an all-new “modern” Mustang, there is a 4-cylinder offering as well, and it even costs more than the V6. Blasphemy!
