The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor’s been out and about for a good while. First it was offered with a 5.4-litre V8 and a quad-cab body. Then the 6.2-litre engine became available, as did the four-door SuperCrew body style. And now for 2013, there are a few more upgrades.
Ford recently revealed images of the new 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition model, the latest variant of the factory-prepared off-road monster.
First it was a 1,200-horsepower Shelby 1000 Mustang, and now Shelby American have shifted focus to create the Shelby Raptor, a nasty-powerful production truck based on the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. It debuted at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
American tuner Hennessey is branching out into the personal armoured car market with the introduction of their new Hennessey Armored Performance Vehicles (APV) line. One of the ideas that could be part of the Hennessey APV range is the VelociRaptor APV, based on the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew.
Last year, when we actually had some contact with Ford, we were told that the Ford F-150 Raptor would come to the GCC eventually, but only in four-door form fitted with a larger 6.2-litre V8, instead of the two-door version with the 5.4-litre V8 that debuted in 2009. The four-door version has finally come to fruition, dubbed the 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew.
Hennessey Performance has built a new performance package for the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. Calling it the Hennessey VelociRaptor 500, power has been beefed up significantly creating one quick off-road beast.
It took long enough, but the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, quiet possibly the most aggressive offroad truck ever, is on display at the 2009 Dubai Motor Show, and it will be offered in GCC countries sometime next year.
