Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors, the UAE’s Ford dealers, have been appointed the official UAE dealers for ROUSH products, and their first offering is ‘The Shamal’, also known as the 2011 Roush Mustang.
The Nissan/Infiniti GTZ club in the UAE celebrated its 2nd anniversary on Friday by organising a meet and drive event. There was a good turn out of members with their cars, comprising of the G35, G37, 350Z, 370Z, Skyline and GT-R models.
It’s been more than a decade since a Toyota coupe has set foot (or tyre even) in a Dubai showroom. But Toyota has been churning out 2-door cars elsewhere for years, and one of them has finally made it to the shores of the UAE. Whether the Toyota Zelas will make Honda fanboys jealous remains to be seen.

Our frequent photographer, Faisal “Chunky” Khatib, caught this Dubai-registered camouflaged prototype on the streets of the UAE. The design cues suggest it is the 2012 Hyundai Elantra that has already been unveiled elsewhere, but is still undergoing hot-weather testing in the Middle East, even though it’s now winter.
Chevrolet recently revealed the Sonic, which is a replacement for the Chevrolet Aveo. The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic will have two body styles: as a four door sedan and a five-door hatchback.

The new Mini has looked pretty much the same since its debut as a lifestyle car sometime in late 2001. There was a major refresh in 2007, with a facelift and new engines. We drove all the body variants since then, including the Cooper S hatchback, the Cooper S convertible and the Clubman S. Then the next big change came in 2010, with a switch to a turbocharged 1.6-litre with a smidge more power for the Cooper S. That engine also made it into the “Mayfair” special edition. We’ll now see what makes it so special.
The 2011 Fiat 500 Convertible has made its way to the UAE. It is powered by the same 1.4-litre 16-valve engine as the hardtop, producing about 100 horsepower. A 5-speed dual transmission is used to deliver the power.
Hyundai showed off a concept hatchback “coupe” called the Hyundai Veloster back in 2007. The compact coupe was a design study on how the direct replacement for the Hyundai Coupe would look like, considering the Genesis Coupe had moved too upmarket. The Veloster has already been spotted testing in Europe and elsewhere, but the Veloster prototype is also undergoing hot-weather testing in Dubai, even if it is winter here, as seen in these exclusive photos by reader Henry G.L.
