The new Land Rover Discovery is not a good-looking vehicle. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, remember that the current Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol and even Range Rover were received with equal hate from the general public, only for them to become “dream” cars for those same people in less than a year, and they both currently dominate the sales charts. In all likelihood, the Discovery will pull off the same feat, once everyone gets used to it. We were just about starting to warm up to it when we had one for a few days.

Yep, we’ve bought yet another car, adding to our ever-expanding self-owned long-term fleet. We hyped it long enough on our Facebook page where we asked our fans to guess the car, and it was great fun watching the comments pour in. This here is a 2015 Chrysler 300 SRT in a rare red colour, and in full-option trim — so fully-optioned, that you won’t find this specification at all dealers as it was originally custom-ordered.

We drove this new Honda CR-V just before heading out to Japan to drive, among other things, a Civic Type-R. While the two cars are miles apart, it is easy to forget that Honda has always been a clever engineering company, given that we don’t see the company’s most popular creations at showrooms here. However, the new CR-V actually has a lot of engineering poured into it, for the benefit of regular folks rather than just enthusiasts.

For a mainstream carmaker, they’ve come with exciting cars as exotic as the Ford GT all the way to as humble as the Ford Fiesta ST (neither of which are on sale in the GCC at the moment). In between, there are the Taurus SHO, Fusion Sport, Explorer Sport, Ranger Wildtrak, all the Mustang variants, Focus ST and the Focus RS. The Nissan Pathfinder has had a long and varied life. In its first generation, it was a five-seater body-on-frame compact offroader back in 1985. Since then, it switched to a unibody, body-on-frame, and then again to a unibody in its current generation, this time fully becoming a crossover with seating for seven in 2013. The model has now received a makeover for 2018, and we drove it at the media launch event in Fujairah.
