His Highness Sheikh Majed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum this evening officially signalled the beginning of the Dubai International Rally by flagging off drivers from the start ramp set amidst the sprawling Boulevard in Downtown Burj Dubai.
The race for the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) crown is expected to touch a boiling point when the 31st edition of the Dubai International Rally gets underway from December 3 with just three points separating the top two contenders for this prestigious title in the 25th year of the championship.
The 31st Dubai International Rally 2009, the final round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship, brings another first as it will host the Pirelli Star Driver’s programme for the Middle East region, according to President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) and Organizing Committee Chairman Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
