The BMW 2-Series is an enthusiast favorite, assuming the enthusiast has a bit of money. With compact proportions and decent driving dynamics, this rear-wheel-drive coupe has built a reputation for being more of a purist’s car than the latest 3-Series. Now, for the 2022 model year, BMW revamps the 2-Series. There are good news and bad news.
In the sub-compact luxury class, the Mercedes Benz CLA had been enjoying monopoly with its “four-door coupe” crammed into an unattractive small package. But now, the German giant’s arch-rival is here with an offering. The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is here to fill in the narrow gap (if there was one) between the 1-Series and the 3-Series sedan. And it looks like an economy car.
The refresh given to BMW’s 2-Series front-wheel-drive MPV models is as discreet as refreshes can get. Both the five-seat Active Tourer and seven-seat Grand Tourer gets the treatment which mostly consists of two new exterior shades, Jucaro Beige and Sunset Orange, and six new alloy wheel designs ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
BMW gave their entry level coupe/convertible, the 2-Series, a refresh which includes a list of minor tweaks. The refresh applies to the whole range of 2-Series cars, starting from the pedestrian base models all the way up to the fire-breathing M2. A new model, M240i M, is also slipped in to form a link between the normal 2-Series and the M2.
The last time we drove a BMW, the year was 2012 and everybody was celebrating the fact that the world hadn’t ended. Frankly, looking at the carmaker’s roster, it doesn’t look like we missed anything crucial aside from the BMW M3 (unless you count front-wheel-drive minivans and uber-pricey electric cars as things that interest you). Well, here we have the BMW M2, which some say is better than anything else the company makes right now.
BMW has released details on the new 2017 2-Series. While it looks virtually the same, the main changes are the new names for the models and slight power upgrades.
BMW officially unveiled the all-new M2 Coupe at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show a couple of weeks ago, but interestingly, it also made its GCC regional debut at the 2016 Qatar Motor Show this week. Standing in as the successor to the 1-Series M Coupe, the M2 will sit ahead of the M235i in the 2-Series lineup.
The BMW M235i is by no doubt a fast car, if the hype is to be believed. However, the peeps at AC Schnitzer have stepped up its limits as they unveil a new beefed-up version of the same coupe.
Replacing the awkward 1-Series Coupe, the BMW 2-Series has been revealed, ahead of its appearance at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in January. Initial variants include the 220i, the 228i and the M235i, alongside a few Europe-specific diesel variants.
