As if the Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari FF cop cars weren’t enough, Dubai Police has gone ahead and added an Aston Martin One-77 to their fleet. Also seen in full police livery are a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as well as a Bentley Continental GT.
If this latest picture that has surfaced on the internet is anything to go by, Dubai Police are not done yet with their supercar fleet and are preparing to add the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and the Bentley Continental GT to their range.
Bentley has unveiled the covers off the 2014 Flying Spur, which is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. It has an all-new design, lower and wider than the previous generation, with arched front and rear fenders. Bentley claims it will be the “fastest, most powerful four-door model” it has ever produced.
Dubbed as the “world’s fastest four-seater convertible”, Bentley has unveiled the new Continental GT Speed Convertible.
It’s not often that we get invited to Bentley’s events, but this was probably the most interesting one yet. We were given a tour of Bentley’s service workshop in Dubai, run by Al Habtoor Motors, the UAE dealer for the British brand. This 189,000 square-feet site in the middle of nowhere also happens to be the largest Bentley workshop in the world. They also opened a new dealership in Abu Dhabi, displaying the one-off Bentley EXP-9F 4×4 concept there as well.
At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Bentley have disclosed their racing intentions in the form of the Continental-based GT3 race car, a concept currently being developed by a dedicated team at the factory in Crewe.
We recently drove the Bentley Mulsanne, the company’s current flagship sedan. While an expensive car, it wouldn’t make much sense for the company to just build one variant on a bespoke platform. And that is why they’ve just announced the convertible version., if only in concept form.
Ah, the Bentley Continental GT. The last time we drove it was on an epic run down Jebel Hafeet at midnight. We’re now too old for shenanigans like that, especially with a million-dirham car. So when we got the convertible version, the Continental GTC, we just did what any actual owner would do, and that is hit every hotel in Dubai this Ramadan to gauge reactions to the car.
The most expensive car we’d ever brought in for testing before was a Bentley Arnage. So it stands to reason that our previous record was just beaten by, what else, another Bentley. This time we drove the Mulsanne, a car that rings in at a cool Dhs 1.4 million. Try getting a bank loan for that.
This concept, the EXP 9 F, is Bentley’s attempt at capturing a share of the profitable 4×4 market. Clearly, it is still a work in progress.
