Total recall: More manufacturers join the recall bandwagon


So if you thought that the crazy automobile recall saga had ended, you were wrong. Since our last post on the recalls earlier this year, there were an insane amount of recalls that followed, from almost every car manufacturer in the world you can ever think of, almost all of them being issued following instructions from the U.S.-based NHTSA agency. And we could not bother to post each recall issue as a separate story, the task being as equally tedious as the reader-response to these. Here are all the recalls that could potentially be relevant to our region since April 2012.

Audi R8 e-tron claims fastest electric car on Nurburgring record


The Audi R8 e-tron, piloted by Markus Winkelhock, clocked a time of 8 minutes 9 seconds around the 20.8 km Nurburgring circuit setting a record as the “fastest production electric car” around the ‘Ring. The only issues are that it is neither a production car, nor has anyone tried to set a record before with an electric car so that it can be beaten.

Audi RS5 2012 facelift released


We honestly never got the point of the A5. To add to the pointlessness, we then got various versions of it thrown at us. Anyway with the idea of bringing things up to date, Audi has now released a facelifted 2012 RS5 powered by Audi’s go-to-engine; the hand-built 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 delivering 450 hp at 8,250 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 4,000-6,000 rpm sending it to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.6 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (or 280 km/h on request).
