Geely is on a roll in the GCC region, it seems. Two test cars in light camo which were spotted by two commuters in Dubai on two different streets that lay fairly close by, turned out to be two different models from the same manufacturer, Geely. This one is the Emgrand EC825.
No one gives a damn about the next Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG or the latest Bugatti Veyron, except for kids who love posters and rich people who don’t drive much. So I was driving along Garhoud Bridge in Dubai a few days ago, and a seemingly mid-size sedan bearing light camouflage caught my attention. Like any other car enthusiast I was eager to find out what it was and soon got involved in a brief chase with the unknown driver of the unknown car. Though the chase did not help me get a clue of what brand the car possibly belonged to, I succeeded in taking a few pictures of the car. And as it turned out, what I chased was a Geely Emgrand EC718.

You may have heard by now that Audi has launched their Mini-wannabe model, the A1, in the UAE. Armed with a 122 hp 1.4-litre “TFSI” engine, women and girly-men are being lured by various promotional activities for the A1, including product placements around malls, big billboards on the streets, and overly-positive “reviews” in local magazines. If you really want this front-wheel-drive supermini though, you can wait for this one. Caught by one of our readers, Nabeal Malik, it looks to be a higher-spec Audi A1 model.
Scion — Toyota’s pointless “youth brand” exclusively present in the U.S. market — has lifted covers off their latest FR-S Sports Coupe Concept at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The FR-S Coupe Concept is based on the Toyota FT-86 Concept and even looks somewhat the same.
Lexus has unveiled the all new LF-Gh hybrid concept at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. According to Lexus, this concept is designed to be a high-performance luxury grand touring sedan while also being able to deliver supreme driving experience, and being as efficient and as “green” in its emission levels as possible.
Rumours persist that Toyota wants to bring back its iconic sports car, the Supra. Not to be mistaken with company’s upcoming model, FT-86, the plan was initially to release both side by side, although now it looks like it will possibly happen further down the line.
