First drive: 2017 Bugatti Chiron in Portugal
This is a case where it would be all too easy to write a paint-by-numbers story. Every single measure and statistic relating to the Chiron is so plain absurd that the numerals in themselves make interesting reading. Fifteen hundred horsepower, 1600 Nm, 0-200 kph in 6.5 seconds, 420 kph (electronically limited for safety!), 16 cylinders, four turbochargers… and even that’s barely scratching the surface.
2018 Opel Crossland X debuts, coming to UAE
Opel’s upcoming acquisition by the French company PSA (which owns Peugeot and Citroen) has given the ailing GM-owned German brand a new lease of life. However, Opel is already on a roll this year with new model releases, revealed a new addition to its lineup at the recent 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The Crossland X, as it’s called, will join the Mokka X in Opel’s crossover portfolio.

“Connected Car” tech to become standard in European cars
Starting March 2018, the “eCall” automatic emergency call system will be mandatory in Europe. This means that every new car will be a “connected car” by default. By 2020, it is expected that there will be 250 million connected cars on the world’s roads. And apparently they will soon offer features that will monitor your car’s condition or warn you of wrong-way drivers.
RUF CTR Yellowbird rides again as new 2017 model
Porsche fanboys will know of RUF’s long history with the German carmaker. RUF actually builds and sells Porsche so heavily modified that they are listed as an independent carmaker in Germany. Porsche carves out an odd niche, as there exists no other full-size ‘wagons’ with 550 hp in the market. It remains to be seen whether there will be enough customers for a car dreamt of only by teenage bloggers. We have yet to see a single Audi RS6 wagon on the road that isn’t a press test-drive car.
