This “modded” Aston Martin, called the DBS, was unveiled by the company a few days ago. For some reason, it didn’t interest me as much as the Honda Accord that was unveiled at the exact same time, so I didn’t bother reporting on it. Well, today is a slow news day, so here it is.
Some American magazine in the United States leaked the first photo of the 2009 Jaguar XF onto the internet. The new car, shown as a C-XF concept many months ago, will replace the aging S-Type series.
It’s been a few days now since we got the Mini Cooper S. And we are still playing with it. It took us a while to get used to its firm steering/clutch/shifter setup before we could enjoy it (which, thankfully, we could due to BMW’s long four-day test policy). But what surprised us most is that we actually matched the company-quoted 0-100 kph time of 7.1 seconds. And that too with the a/c on in the middle of the summer. The Saab 9-7X is considered somewhat of a flop. Simply a dressed-up Chevy Trailblazer, consumers never took to the awfully high price. The new limited edition 9-7X Aero is an attempt to make it more capable at chasing X5s and Cayennes, with a Corvette engine.

I always had many unkind words for the previous the BMW X5. It is driven by overspeeding yuppies, cannot go off-road and did not have a reason to exist. But for some reason, I was anticipating the delivery of the new X5 at my parking lot. There is something to be said about about a big 4WD that can outrun most “normal” cars on the road. And I just had to see the gadgetry that was advertised in the press releases.
Peugeot has been dead to us lately. Late last year, their Dubai reps postponed our date with a 407 Coupe four times in two months before eventually not responding any more. Not a good way to build a brand by ignoring the Middle East’s largest automotive portal (that’s right, we are the biggest now). Also not good is peddling outdated products such as the 206 and the 307 here. Europe already has a 207 and a 308, and they’ve come up with this concept for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show this year. Essentially, it will replace the slow 307 CC,
Yes, there are way too many Mini stories this week. And no, Mini has not developed a new floating variant of their car.
