Jaguar released the 2011 version of the supercharged XKR coupe at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, although it looks the same as the already-facelifted 2010 version. It looks like the only change is an optional increase in the speed limiter, up to 280 kph from 250 kph before.

It would seem that Mercedes-Benz engineers are either perennially restless, or they could never make up their minds. In the earlier half of this decade, the Mercedes-Benz S 55 AMG was content with an overpowering 5.5-litre supercharged V8. Then the German firm decided to replace that with a 6.21-litre naturally-aspirated V8, fitting the motor in, among others, the S 63 AMG. And now, they’ve decided to replace that excellent motor with a new 5.5-litre turbocharged V8, although the car will still be badged an S 63 AMG.

There was a time when BMW said they refuse to make an M version of the 7-Series because it would be too far away from the concept of the ‘M’ cars. They still believe that, so there is no M7. And then they went ahead and created the BMW X5 M. While the death of the original ‘M’ philosophy is lamented, the new ‘M’ philosophy opens the door to a whole new range of physics-defying vehicles that can finally take the fight to AMG, while butt-slapping Audi back to the hole they came out from.
