First Drive: 2025 McLaren 750S
The McLaren 750S is the latest addition to the British supercar maker’s lineup, and it’s not just a mid-life facelift of the 720S—it’s an evolution. With more power, improved aerodynamics, and a lighter chassis, McLaren has refined what was already a sensational machine. We took the 750S for a spin to see how it stacks up.
Exterior
At first glance, the 750S looks similar to its predecessor, but subtle changes make a world of difference. The front features a redesigned bumper with larger air intakes, giving it a more aggressive stance. The headlights retain the signature “eye socket” look, but the edges are sharper. The rear end gets a prominent diffuser and centrally mounted twin exhausts inspired by the McLaren P1.
McLaren offers a coupe and a Spider version, the latter featuring a retractable hardtop that adds just 49 kg to the overall weight. The car’s standard wheels are lightweight forged alloys wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres for maximum grip. The car’s aerodynamic profile has been fine-tuned, improving downforce without adding drag.
Interior
Inside, the McLaren 750S offers a minimalist yet luxurious cabin. The new infotainment system features a larger, faster touchscreen interface, but the focus remains on driving. The digital driver’s display tilts with the steering column, ensuring visibility at all times. Carbon-fiber trim, Alcantara upholstery, and customizable colour schemes let owners personalize the cabin.
Despite its supercar credentials, the cabin isn’t too claustrophobic. Visibility is okay, but sometimes, you must strain your head forward more than usual to check the blind spot on the passenger side.
The power-adjusted comfort seats on our test car were comfortable enough for long drives—though storage space remains limited, as expected. The doors have no pockets since they would fall out when you open them. At 150 litres, the frunk is big enough to store a medium-sized backpack. If you don’t plan to open the roof in the Spider version, the space can be used to store some flat items.
McLaren 750S Performance
The heart of the 750S is a revised 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 740 hp (750 PS) and 800 Nm of torque, up from 710 hp in the 720S. It’s mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that delivers lightning-quick shifts. Power is sent to the rear wheels, propelling the car from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.8 seconds and to a top speed of 331 kph.
The 750S is also lighter than the 720S, tipping the scales at just 1,277 kg (dry weight), thanks to extensive use of carbon-fibre and lightweight components. The result is a car that feels razor-sharp on the road or track. The hydraulic steering offers excellent feedback, while the updated Proactive Chassis Control suspension provides a more refined ride without sacrificing handling.
Driving Experience
On the road, the McLaren 750S feels alive. The acceleration is brutal when the turbo kicks in, yet manageable, thanks to the car’s clever traction control systems. It’s incredibly balanced in corners, with immense grip and precise steering. The brakes, carbon-ceramic as standard, are equally impressive, bringing the car to a stop with confidence.
Switching between drive modes (Comfort, Sport, and Track) noticeably changes the car’s character, making it versatile for daily use or spirited drives.
While the 750S has already demonstrated its ability to challenge track records, McLaren’s primary focus was on enhancing driver engagement, and they have unquestionably succeeded.
McLaren 750S Pricing and Verdict
The McLaren 750S price in the UAE starts at AED 1.4 million for the coupe, with the Spider commanding a slight premium, priced at AED 1.55 million. Optional extras can quickly drive up the price, but that’s the norm in this segment.
The 750S isn’t a revolutionary departure from the 720S, but it’s a near-perfect evolution. It’s faster, lighter, and more engaging, making it one of the finest supercars you can buy today. For those seeking a blend of track-ready performance and road usability, the McLaren 750S is a compelling choice.
