First Look: 2025 Mini Cooper Convertible

MINI has introduced the latest generation of the MINI Cooper Convertible, incorporating modern tech and design elements. The MINI models with naturally aspirated engines are still built in Oxford, England. The EV MINI models are built in China.

Convertible Functionality

The new MINI Cooper Convertible has a fully automatic soft-top that opens in 18 seconds, even at speeds up to 30 kph. The roof can be partially opened like a sunroof, allowing drivers to enjoy the fresh air without fully retracting it.

MINI also reintroduces a fun little gimmick: the “Always Open” Timer. This timer tracks how long the car is driven with the top down.

Mini Cooper Design

The new MINI Convertible’s design balances retro appeal with modern updates. The front features round LED headlights and a reworked grille, maintaining MINI’s signature look.

ustomisation options are plentiful, with three trims—Classic, Favoured, and JCW—offering different interior materials, accents, and styling touches. The JCW trim, particularly, brings a sporty flair with red stitching and a performance-focused interior.

Mini Cooper Performance

The MINI Cooper Convertible is available in three powertrains. The base MINI Cooper C has a 163 hp engine, hits 100 kph in 8.2 seconds, and has a top speed of 220 kph.

The more powerful MINI Cooper S produces 204 hp and accelerates to 100 kph in 6.9 seconds, with a maximum speed of 237 kph. With its track-inspired dynamics, the John Cooper Works (JCW) variant delivers a thrilling experience for drivers seeking maximum performance.

Customisable Interior

Inside, the MINI Convertible has tech features, including a central OLED display that adapts based on the selected MINI Experience Mode. These modes offer everything from Go-Kart Mode for a more dynamic feel to personalised ambience settings for a tailored driving experience.

Driver assistance systems and enhanced connectivity improve safety and make it easier to integrate smartphones and apps, ensuring both fun and functionality.
