First Look: 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan launched in the UAE & GCC
Volkswagen has officially introduced the third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan in the GCC, bringing their best-selling SUV back with some design, technology, and performance updates.
The new Tiguan will hit showrooms in October. At launch, it will be available with 1.4-litre engines, with the 2.0-litre variant expected by the end of the year.
With over 7.6 million units sold globally since its initial release in 2007, the Tiguan is one of Volkswagen’s most successful models, including in the Middle East.
Platform and Features
The all-new Tiguan is built on Volkswagen’s latest MQB platform, which enables it to get the new “Digital Cockpit Pro.” The infotainment system has a 15-inch display and digital instruments with anti-reflective coatings for easier visibility. Volkswagen has revamped the system’s interface to offer intuitive controls for various functions, including apps, navigation, and media.
Other premium features include the “LIGHT HD” matrix headlights, which were previously only seen on the Touareg model.
These headlights utilize 38,400 multipixel LEDs (19,200 per headlight) to enhance visibility and safety, especially during night driving.
Front seats with a pneumatic massage function and Park Assist Pro, which automates parking in tight spaces, are also available.
Volkswagen Tiguan Design
The 2024 Tiguan is the first SUV in the segment to implement VW’s new design language. The front end has flat LED headlights, a new grille, and an illuminated horizontal strip.
The rear features a horizontal light bar and new wheel designs, giving it a dynamic appearance from all angles.
Volkswagen has introduced three new colour options—green, silver, and red—and five metallic paint options. The redesigned radiator grille openings, which optimize airflow for better fuel efficiency, have also improved aerodynamics.
Better Driving Dynamics
Volkswagen has also focused on improving the Tiguan’s driving dynamics. The optional adaptive “chassis control Pro” adjusts shock absorber stiffness and braking for increased comfort and stability during sharp turns or uneven roads.
The new system integrates electronic differential locks and shock absorber controls to boost performance in various driving conditions, from city streets to highways.
Interior Comfort and Tech
The new Tiguan has a head-up display that directly projects critical driving information, such as speed and navigation directions, onto the windshield.
Additionally, the new central control dial with an OLED display allows drivers to customize their driving experience by adjusting ambient lighting, playlists, and temperature settings.
Volkswagen Tiguan Pricing and Availability
Volkswagen will announce more details on trim levels and full specifications closer to the vehicle’s regional launch.
The new Tiguan’s 1.4-litre Life variant starts at AED 109,500, while the top-spec 1.4-litre R-Line is priced at AED 144,800. Pricing for the 2.0-litre models will be revealed later this year.
