2024 Toyota Grand Highlander debuts

Toyota has its own expansive range of three-row SUVs. But somehow, they found a gap big enough for a new one between the three-row Highlander and the Land Cruiser Prado. Hence, comes in the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.

Like the Highlander, the Grand Highlander utilizes Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, but it features distinct styling that sets it apart from the regular Highlander. The front end is more squared and features a hammerhead grill. The body lines are smoother and better integrated. The roof does not slope to the rear, giving it a more butch appearance. The wheel options range from 18 inches and grow bigger as you climb the variant ladder.

The interior is a classic family SUV affair. There is ample space for all passengers and more space for some luggage. Feature-wise, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander comes loaded with heated and ventilated front-row seats, a heated second row, a heads-up display, panoramic cameras, a powered tailgate, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen system paired with an 11-speaker JBL sound system.

The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander also has driver assistance and over-the-air connectivity features, including Destination Assist and Cloud Navigation. It also comes with some subscription services like Remote Connect for operating some of the vehicle features remotely. Of course, the availability of some of these features is variant-dependent. Also, if you opt for the Hybrid Max powertrain, you will be offered a 1500-watt power outlet as well.

Speaking of powertrains, the top dog is, of course, the Hybrid Max. The exact details of this powertrain are not available, but it is clear that it will produce 362 horses using a standard all-wheel-drive system. If they decide to borrow the powertrain from the Toyota Crown, it will be a 2.4-litre engine paired with a couple of electric motors.

The mid-point in the powertrain department is Toyota’s 2.5-litre hybrid four-cylinder unit. The entry point will be a turbo 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine. Details about these powertrains are yet to surface.
