VW ID.5 debuts as a coupe-alternative to the ID.4

VW is going in with guns blazing to electrify their lineup. This is the very reason they are betting big on their ID lineup. Now they have a new entrant to this green gang. The Volkswagen ID.5, offered in two flavours – standard, and GTX.

The design of the VW ID.5 draws parallels with the ID.4, except for the roofline. The ID.5 has a coupe-like rake at the rear while the ID.4 has a traditional crossover roof. Even the interior of the ID.5 looks just like what the ID.4 offers. It has the same minimal layout, spiced up with the identical infotainment screen and DIS.

The VW ID.5 GTX is the top dog of the bunch with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. This trim churns out 295 hp, capable of pushing the ID.5 from 0 to 100 kph in 6.3 seconds.

The lower trims of the ID.5 are the ID.5 Pro and ID.5 Pro Performance. The Pro trim has a 171 hp motor while the Pro Performance does one better with 201 hp. Both the models have a single rear-mounted motor. Pro, Pro Performance, and GTX share the same 77 kWh battery pack.
