2022 Honda Civic Si revealed, gets a manual
The Honda Civic Si is a proper middle-ground between the sedate Civic and its bonkers cousin, the Type-R. This symbol of affordable performance is coming back in the latest avatar.
The 2022 Honda Civic Si gets a small 1.5-litre engine. But with its turbo, it makes close to 200 hp and 260 Nm of torque. The torque is made earlier in the rev range so that the acceleration is better in the new generation. Honda has also managed to shave off 26 percent of weight from the flywheel, enabling quicker acceleration, thanks to the lower inertia of the lighter flywheel.
Coupled with this engine comes a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching tech from the Type-R. The transmission is tuned for shorter throws and a better shifting experience. A limited-slip differential is also a part of the package, so are better brakes. The front end gets 12.3-inch rotors while the rear end gets 11.1-inches.
Visually, the Civic Si’s exclusivity comes mainly from the Blazing Orange Pearl paint shade. Complementing this bright body well are the 18-inch matte black alloy wheels. There is a gloss black spoiler. Black shade can also be found on the mirror caps and window surrounds. The interior gets the usual list of enhancements including red accents, sporty pedals, sports seats, and more. It also gets the features from the regular Civic like a 9-inch infotainment system, 12-speaker BOSE sound system, 7-inch driver’s display, and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
The Honda Civic Si slots above the regular Civics and will later be topped with the Type-R. It highly doubtful it will hit Middle East soils.
