2020 Nissan Patrol major facelift global debut in the UAE

A new model making its sales debut in the Middle East is not a common occurrence. But when it comes to the debut of the updated 2020 Nissan Patrol, where else is better than the land that accepted this massive barge of an SUV with all its heart?

The 2020 Patrol retains its massive size and silhouette but sports a new design. Nissan’s V-Motion grill gets a new take on the Patrol. The front end is much sharper than the outgoing model with updated headlamps and LED DRLs. The “city” bumper in higher-spec models is lower and has more chrome, while the “offroad” has a better approach angle. The rear gets a new tailgate and different LED lights, with sequential indicators all round. Fender flares, fancier mirror indicators and slimline roof rails introduced for the 2019 model were all locally-installed accessories and hence do not appear on the 2020 model.

Inside the 2020 Patrol, the air more luxurious than before with the diamond-stitched quilted leather seats in the Platinum, with a GT-R-inspired brown upholstery leather aside from the usual beige leather or leatherette, beige cloth, and black cloth options.

The gauge cluster finally has a larger full-colour LCD between the physical gauges. It also gets two centre-console touchscreen displays, the top doing duty as the regular infotainment/navi system and the one at the bottom working to show settings for various systems, such as the auto a/c with improved rear cooling. The infotainment system gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well, which appear in the top screen. Top-spec models get rear headrest screens, HDMI and USB ports in the back.

Nissan claims that the new Patrol is quieter than before. And safer too, with a driver safety suite that includes Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection & Intelligent Forward Collision Warning System.

Powering the 2020 Nissan Patrol are the regular suite of engines, the 4.0-litre V6 with 275 hp and 394 Nm and the 5.6-litre V8 with 400 hp and 560 Nm. The V8 model will offer Nissan’s Hydraulic Body Motion Control suspension system which is apparently slightly improved for better roll resistance.
