2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio gets cheaper two-wheel-drive base model
Alfa Romeo’s female-focused SUV, the Stelvio, was introduced with all-wheel-drive as standard across its range. But now as it moves into another year of production, the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is now offered in a RWD variant that helps the SUV become cheaper and lighter than before.
The new rear-wheel-drive Stelvios can be spotted using the Q2 badging while the AWD models will sport a Q4 badge. The 2019 model gets no update to the engine though. The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder continues to churn out 280 hp and 415 Nm. It also comes mated to the same eight-speed automatic gearbox. But the omission of AWD systems has shaved off close to 50 kilos from the weight of the car.
It can be fitted with an 8.8-inch infotainment display and cold weather package. The customers of the RWD Stelvio can also opt for a Sport Package which will add aluminium brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, and coloured brake calipers. But that’s all the options you can get. Moving up the ladder to buy the well-appointed variants will force you to buy AWD as it is standard for the higher variants.
At the moment, it is unclear if the 2WD Stelvio will be offered in the UAE and GCC.
