Subaru BRZ STI Sport Special Edition debuts in Japan

Subaru unwrapped yet another special edition BRZ which adds up to the long list of BRZ models. Called the Subaru BRZ STI Sport Edition, this flavour is claimed by Subaru to be the most extreme of them all. But it’s not the car you were expecting.

The new BRZ STI sports some updates over the standard car, but not where we wanted it. There is no change to the engine output, extra tuning or forced induction. All it has are improved steering, performance-oriented suspension upgrades, and 18-inch wheels. You’ll get the same things with the BRZ Performance package Subaru sells in the US. The Cool Grey Khaki paint, shown in the pictures, is exclusive though. And only 100 examples will be finished in that shade. The total number of BRZ STI Sport editions will also be capped, but the number hasn’t been disclosed yet.

The 204 hp 2.0-litre flat-four engine is retained and it comes hooked up to a six-speed manual transmission as standard. An automatic gearbox can be opted for.

If you’re interested in the BRZ STI Sport, we’re sorry to say that this will only be offered in Japan. And the ones in Japan won’t be able to just go and buy it. Subaru is planning to organise a lottery to randomly pick buyers.
