2019 Kia Cerato displays Stinger-inspired design at Detroit
The Kia stand at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show became a venue for the unveiling of the 2019 Kia Forte, or Cerato as it’s known in the GCC. The 2019 Cerato adopts some styling cues from the Kia Stinger lukewarm sports sedan to make it more appealing.
The Stinger-inspired styling is evident in the swept-back headlamps and the lower fascia. The short boot and the raked roof give it a silhouette similar to its big brother. The Cerato has also grown in length by 81mm. Kia has also worked on the platform to make it 16% stiffer than the outgoing model, thanks to the Advanced-high Strength Steel used for the platform’s construction.
Kia’s engineers have fettled with the drivetrain as well. It offers a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine hooked up to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or CVT automatic. The engine outputs 147 hp and 179 Nm of torque. The fuel efficiency is improved at 6.72 litres/100 km.
Kia has not given any details regarding the price or the date of release, but expect to see it in the UAE, KSA and other GCC countries by the end of the year.
