Subaru WRX STI S208 2018 special edition only for Japan

Subaru WRX STI S208 2018 special edition only for Japan

Following the footsteps of the S207 Limited edition released a couple of years ago in Japan, Subaru has now announced a new spiced-up version of their WRX STI sedan called the S208. Only 450 examples of this new model will roll out. Unfortunately, just like the S207, it will only be sold in its home market of Japan as well.

The Subaru S208 sedan is not just an all-show no-go vehicle. The engineers have swapped the roof for a carbon fibre unit that lowers the centre of gravity of the car and shaves off some kilos in the process. Subaru and STI tied hands to work on the suspension of the 208 to make the car more agile around curves.

Subaru says that the S208 will have “improved engine output” but speaks nothing specific about it. For a comparison, the S207 special edition had an output of 323 hp and 431 Nm from the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. This is 13 hp and 38 Nm more than the 2018 WRX STI Type RA launched a few months ago.
