Ferrari 488 Spider Heartthrob special edition debuts

At the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, it was not just the Portofino that graced the Ferrari stand. There was another car which had a name that was arguably catchier than the actual car — the Ferrari 488 Spider Heartthrob. This tailor-made supercar was built as a part of Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary special edition series. This edition was first announced at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

The body of the 488 Spider Heartthrob is finished in a shade of Royal Blue which gives the car an exclusive appearance. The design of the Heartthrob pays homage to the legendary 500 Mondial which was designed by Pininfarina in 1954. Specifically, the 500 Mondial, 1 out of the 14 built, raced by Dominican racer Porfirio Rubirosa.

The new Ferrari 488 Spider Heartthrob wears the same body finish as the race car and the number 235 from the actual car is featured on its body. The interior is finished in red leather.

The performance remains unchanged though. It retains the same state of tune as the stock Ferrari 488 Spider which produces 661 hp and 761 Nm from its turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 engine. This can power the car from 0 to 100 kph in 3.0 seconds and the top speed is a very strong 329 kph.

Ferrari hasn’t mentioned anything about the asking price of this one-of-a-kind Spider but it is sure to go for some jaw-dropping amounts in the near future when it is auctioned off later.
