Caterham Seven SuperSprint unveiled
All those who drive a car would unanimously agree that 95 hp is not a big number when it comes to putting a smile on your face. But a Caterham is barely a car, its mechanical parts being so simple that they will even sell it to you in pieces so you could build it with a set of instructions, kind of like IKEA or Lego. The British “carmaker” now has a new offering called the Seven SuperSprint.
The Caterham Seven SuperSprint is a little retro sports car which flaunts a very lightweight body and styling from your grandfather’s era. Powered by a 95 hp 660cc three-cylinder Suzuki engine, the Seven SuperSprint can be finished in seven shades, each named after famous tracks. An optional kit adds a stainless steel rear wing and side screen armrests covered in leather.
The SuperSprint Seven is by no means a well-equipped car. But Caterham offers a limited slip differential, adjustable suspension and an aero windscreen. The seats inside are covered in quilted leather which also used for the handbrake and gear levers.
Thanks to the feather-light body, the Caterham Seven SuperSprint offers respectable performance. It runs from 0 to 100 kph in 6.9 seconds and the top speed is 161 kph.
Caterham has started taking orders for the SuperSprint across Europe. It will only be available in limited numbers.
