2018 Land Rover Discovery SVX revealed
Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations department flung the wraps off their new Land Rover Discovery SVX at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Discovery SVX is tailored for the dirt hungry enthusiasts who actually dare to take their Land Rovers off the beaten track. The SVX comes from the same house as the niche Jaguar XE SV Project 8.
The SVX comes with increased ground clearance and long-travel dampers which increases its approach and departure angles. The off-road specific systems like Hydraulic Active Roll Control and Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system are added to the Discovery SVX package. The 20-inch wheels are shod with 275/55R20 Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tyres.
Under the hood, the Land Rover Discovery SVX sports the 5.0-litre supercharged V8, which makes it the only Discovery to get this powerplant. This mill produces 518 hp and 625 Nm of torque that will give it more grunt to crawl out of tricky off-road situations.
Land Rover has given the Discovery SVX some styling cues to give it a distinct appearance from the regular mommy-spec Disco. Rush Orange accents are littered around the body and the interior. The bumpers up front and at the back come with new skid plates. The paint shade, Tectonic Grey, is also new and SVX specific.
The Discovery SVX is not just a concept destined to face the axe right after gracing a show stand. JLR says that they will put it into production sometime next year.
