So we got a 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

Ford is off-the-wall crazy at the moment, and credit goes to their just-replaced CEO for allowing it. We’re talking about their enthusiast line-up. For a mainstream carmaker, they’ve come with exciting cars as exotic as the Ford GT all the way to as humble as the Ford Fiesta ST (neither of which are on sale in the GCC at the moment). In between, there are the Taurus SHO, Fusion Sport, Explorer Sport, Ranger Wildtrak, all the Mustang variants, Focus ST and the Focus RS. And while there is some hype surrounding the upcoming Bronco, Ford already has a much madder offroader in its arsenal — the F-150 Raptor. And we took one for a pre-Ramadan spin in the desert.

Let’s get one thing out of the way. This thing is big. Too big. It barely fits in a parking space, and hits its flexible antenna on those “2.1-metre height limit” signs at mall underground-parking entrances.

Inside, it’s typical F-150 fare, except for rubber floor mats, and a general feeling that you’re sitting even higher. You can even impress your friends with the vestigial auxiliary switches on the ceiling.
