2017 Jeep Compass full details revealed
The 2017 Jeep Compass bridges the gap between the small Renegade and the slightly-beyond-compact Cherokee. Publicly debuting the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, the new Compass aims to liven up the sales of the compact SUV with the refresh.
Speaking of presence, the new Compass sports Jeep’s signature seven-slot front grill along with plastic-clad fenders. They also offer an offroad-ready Trailhawk model which gets skid plates, unique details at the front and the back and an inch of additional ride height. With all these additional modifications, the Trailhawk is claimed to be the most off-road capable compact crossover in the market. It also comes with Jeep’s famous Trail-rated label. The Trailhawk also adds 907 kg of towing capacity, ability to wade through water up to 19 inches deep and a low-range four-wheel-drive system with 20:1 crawl ratio.
It will be sold with 17 different powertrains around the world but the one headed to the US is the 2.4-litre inline-4 “Tigershark” unit that produces 180 hp and 237 Nm. A 9-speed automatic transmission does duty in the four-wheel drive models while the front-wheel-drive models will be offered with a 6-speed automatic. There will also be a 6-speed manual on offer.
Jeep hasn’t confirmed their plans for the Middle East yet. In fact, plans for the whole world except the U.S. are yet to be announced.
The new Jeep Compass will make its way into the showrooms in the U.S. by the first quarter of 2017. They haven’t let out any details regarding the pricing. We expect the new Compass to land on UAE and GCC shores by the end of next summer.
