2017 Mercedes GLC43 AMG Coupe revealed
The German giants BMW and Mercedes-Benz has locked horns in every imaginable way since the time of their inception. Recently, Mercedes rivaled the BMW X6 with the GLE coupe and now they have done the same with the GLC Coupe by pitting it against the BMW X4. And as BMW’s tuning division M Sport laid their hands on the X4 to produce the BMW X4 M40i, Mercedes has come up with the GLC43 AMG Coupe.
The new AMG model belongs to the less aggressive 43 range which serves as a connection between normal Mercedes models and the bloodthirsty high end AMGs. The engine for the GLC43 AMG Coupe is carried over from the GLC43 AMG crossover. The 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 produces 362 hp and 520 Nm of torque which is channeled to all four wheels via AMG’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system . A 9-speed automatic transmission handles all this power to propel the GLC coupe from 0-100 kph in under 5 seconds, very similar numbers to the BMW X4 M40i, even though it produces less power.
The mechanicals of the GLC coupe are also reworked to be more sporty. Larger brakes with four piston fixed callipers at the front and one-piston floating callipers at the back provide the bite required to tame the power. AMG has fiddled with GLC’s Air Body Control Suspension to increase its sporty character. The exterior is spruced up using an AMG body kit.
The interior receives a host of updates as well. The sport seats and flat-bottomed setting wheel is covered in black microfibre with red stitching. To go with the flow, the seat belts are also coloured red.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe will be uncovered at the 2016 Paris Motor Show on September 28th. After that it could arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries sometime next year.
