2017 Ford F-250 and other F-Series Super Duty models revealed
Ford has revealed the next-generation 2017 versions of the F-Series Super Duty models, which include the F-250, F-350 and F-450. While details are still scarce, one thing for sure is that they now use aluminium body panels justl like the new F-150.
The frame is now made of 95% high-stength steel, six times more than before, making it 24 times stiffer. It has 14% more aluminium by weight than the F-150, due mostly to a thicker bed floor, inner panels and D-pillars.
Several new electronic options include a remote rearview camera that mounts behind a trailer, adaptive cruise control with collision mitigation, LED bed lighting and spotlights under the side mirrors, blind-spot monitoring, front massaging seats, rear inflatable seat-belts and the latest Sync 3 infotainment system.
Exterior styling will vary slightly between trim lines, which include XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. The cargo bed will be offered in six-foot-eight-inch and eight-foot lengths. There are more than 30 cab and bed combinations.
Ford says the engine lineup will remain the same, with a 6.2-litre petrol V8, a 6.8-litre petrol V10 and a 6.7-litre turbodiesel V8, all mildly updated, although further information will be released later.
