Ferrari 488 Spider unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show
The convertible supercar scene is hot this year. Alongside the revelation of the new Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, the 2016 Ferrari 488 Spider broke covers at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show this week.
The Spider comes with a retractable hard top, which reportedly opens and closes in a mere 14 seconds. What’s more impressive is that the hard top will weigh 25 kg lesser than its very own soft top variant.
The Spider also possesses a new aluminium spaceframe which helps increase the car’s torsional rigidity by over 23-percent. This should translate to sharper cornering and better handling.
The 488 Spider will be powered by the same 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 producing 660 hp and 760 Nm of torque. Ferrari claims that it will hit the 100 kph mark in 3.0 seconds; which is bang-on with the 488 GTB, and furthermore, soar all the way to 200 kph in 8.7 seconds, thanks to an improved throttle response time of 0.8 seconds.
The 488 Spider is expected to roar into the roads of UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC sometime next year.
