2016 Honda Civic 1

After it was spotted completely undisguised a few days ago, Honda has officially revealed the all-new 2016 Civic sedan in the US.

The tenth-generation Civic looks to have gone more upmarket, with LED daytime running lights and taillights given as standard, and LED headlights offered as an option. The new body is also said to be 25-percent more rigid, thanks to the use of ultra-high strength steel. It is also said to be 12-percent more aerodynamic than the outgoing model, helped by the fact it now has full underbody covers.

The new Civic is not only bigger, but 31 kg lighter than the previous generation as well. Better body-sealing techniques has lowered cabin air leaks by 58-percent. The interior also has been upgraded with better fit and finish, while the increase in overall size has helped improve legroom and trunk capacity.

Standard features in the compact sedan include automatic climate control, electronic parking brake with brake hold, auto up/down front power windows and walk-away auto door locks. Higher models get dual-zone climate control. All models also get a new centre console which includes a new infotainment system featuring a 7-inch touchscreen display and supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Two engine choices have been revealed in the US, the first being a 158 hp 2.0-litre 4-cylinder motor and the other a 173 hp turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder unit. Only the 2.0-litre can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission, while a CVT is offered on both engines.

The 2016 Honda Civic will be made in the US and Canada. There is still no word yet if this model will come to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Honda Civic buyer guide.

  1. Nice interior…gearshift lever looks similar to some of the Lexus models – perhaps the same supplier. Not sure if the exterior design, especially the rear, will be to everyone’s liking.

  2. Big improvement on the inside, better than the old weird design.

  3. Wow…..the leader is back!!

    • Dont you have another comment, any story about civic and you write the leader is back !!!! what leader? heheheh, it looks average nice, the back is a foul, from some angles it looks like a smaller crosstour which won thew prize of the ugliest car of the year award and achieved the poorest sales figures, yeah the front is nice, the interior looks nice, but it is not about looks, Honda entertainment and navigation systems have always been criticized for being outdated and lagging, try adjusting the AC while driving through that screen … it will be big headache, the other day I was with my friend in his (New) honda city full option, he was going out of the park, he went back and drove away while the screen was still saying check surroundings for safety and the image from back camera was not shown on screen yet, it takes over 5 seconds to load the video, hehehehe, I told him ok maybe next time hehehehe

  4. Front and interior look nice. But a big question mark at the back. Dont like it at all. I guess a back facelift is on the way soon.

  5. This is a good one, after seeing so many failed redesigns by Japanese and South Korean auto makers. South Koreans cannot even imagine the fit and finish quality of Honda.

  6. It looks better than the CORROLLA, LANCER, ELENTRA, Focus and the Cerato.
Mazda 3 Cabin and design is better

  7. Back looks somehow like AUDI sports-back, over all better then current model and competitors. Agressive look.liked that

  8. when will civic 2016 release in UAE ???
