Mazda KOERU SUV concept hints at new CX-7

Mazda KOERU concept

The Frankfurt Motor Show could be considered as the mechanical haven for car manufacturers around the globe. And with millions of spectators keenly observing the event, there’s a lot riding on the shoulders of these manufacturers. And thereby, bowing to the needs of the discerning Mazda-enthusiast is the KOERU concept.

The bold and swoopy angular lines you see are what Mazda call, “an evolution of the KODO design”. The front features a big chrome radiator grille and sweptback headlights.

The KOERU concept also features the new MZD Connect system, which is Mazda’s new-generation car-connectivity system.

Details on this crossover are really scarce, with hardly any mechanical info released. The exterior stands at a height of 1.5 m, and complimented by a length and width of 4.6 m x 1.9 m respectively, we can get an idea of what the new CX-7 might look like.

What do you think?

  1. Hyundai front….kia sportage back…

  2. Shallow comment raneesh… This is the Mazda design since the intro of the Mazda 6, CX5, MX5…. which is superior to any other brand so far… Keep it Up Mazda…

  3. The rear view do resemble the Infiniti QX70, though not entirely …

  4. Interesting design, so is it larger or smaller than current CX-7, and does that MZD Connect System support new mobile integration technologies like Android Auto and Apple Car Connect ?

As for the drivetrain.. I hope to see 4 turbo engine choice with better fuel efficiency compared to their V6 engine.. not to say they have bad one, but more efficiency is always better as long as it doesn’t affect HP and torque ( eg.. performance and feel )

I wonder how it will do against rumoured 2017+ Honda CR-V which might get larger to seat 7 passengers…

    • I forget to mention, do you guys mean CX-9 or CX-7 ?

    • Never mind, it’s CX-7, my bad

    • Apparently the chassis is the same length as that of the CX-5 so it can accommodate something like a CX-7. If the length can be varied then the CX-9 may use it as well. This remains to be seen. A concept or ‘finished’ model of the CX-9 will be shown at the LA Auto Show this November. Sadly there’s no info on the engine-drivetrain or tech but a rumour of a 2.5ltr Turbo outputting 300hp+ is doing the rounds.

  5. sorry to say Raneesh it’s high time you check your eyesight with a good ophthalmologist….With this kinda vision you are pron to make road accidents while driving….Mazda is coming out with the best designs among the Asian car manufacturers….if Mazda had a luxury brand like Lexus or Acura surely they would have given a tough competition for the Germans with such great designs and sporty handling….

  6. Did they say how much the car would be? I think the hp is 255 not 300Hp. From without it’s great but I kinda don’t like the screen position inside, it ought to be seating like that of Lexus and Maserati levante, to be frank this car looks just like the levante and its loving!!!
