2016 Infiniti Q30 officially revealed in Frankfurt
After giving out teasers for ages, Infiniti has finally revealed the Q30 at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The hatchback carries over most of the design cues from the concept which was revealed two years ago and uses the same MRA platform as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
From the exterior, you can make out many of the body panels are similar to the A-Class and the same story goes for the interior as well, where the buttons, knobs, instrument cluster display and other bits are borrowed from the German hatchback.
The engines of the Q30 include two turbocharged 1.6-litre 4-cylinder motors, producing 120 hp and 154 hp respectively. The Premium or Sport version get a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit, which produces about 208 hp, which is the same engine as the Mercedes-Benz A 250, and also found in the Infiniti Q50.
There are two diesel engines on offer as well, the first one being the 108 hp turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder, and the second motor is the 168 hp turbocharged 2.2-litre 4-cylinder unit.
All engines can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Built in England rather than Japan, the 2016 Infiniti Q30 is expected to hit showrooms by the first quarter of 2016 in European markets, with a potential later debut for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and rest of the GCC if it gets greenlit for our region.
