Honda BR-V prototype makes its debut

Honda BR-V

Honda revealed the BR-V prototype at the 2015 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

The BR-V is apparently based on the Mobilio MPV, therefore it can seat up to 7 people. It gets a raised suspension and roof rails along with some black plastic body-cladding on the wheel arches and side skirts while up front there’s a plastic underbody protection. The rear apparently has LED taillights. The crossover rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Honda claims class-leading interior space, while the second-row seats are ventilated. It gets a multi-information display, while on the safety front, it gets dual front airbags, ABS with electronic brake distribution (EBD), as well as hill start assist and vehicle stability assist (VSA).

The BR-V is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine, mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The motor is good enough to produce about 120 hp and 145 Nm of torque.

Production is set to begin in January in Indonesia. Whether the Honda BR-V will make it to the UAE, Saudi Arabia or GCC is still not known.

  1. Should’ve uploaded more pictures !!

  2. What’s going on with Honda. Going with CVT is a major step backwards. CVT is a dull and malfunction prone Gear. In addition getting the Accord from China to the GCC or ME is a stupid move, especially that I heard they are facing serious issues with the engine sudden shut down. Korean Cars are next to lead especially with the designs and quality where I prefer buying a 100% Korean built car rather than a Japanese brand Chinese Built Honda at this stage.

  3. The funniest and most shocking part Al Futtaim sales person say that China build Honda are equally same as Japanese made!!!! no any country made car will match Japanese made cars .Once they said the same that Thailand made Yaris is same as the Japanese made that used to come earlier. How on earth it’s possible that China and Thailand made cars are same as japnesene made cars in terms of quality durability and technology.

  4. I personally think the decision to bring on Chinese built hondas and thai built toyota will be the kiss of death for Japanese brand cars durability and reputation in the Gulf. This will also position korean cars as the first choice for daily commute cars

  5. I agree,CVT I dull gearbox tech. I drove 2016 CRV & CITY both are useless. CVT has brought down HONDA Sales. HONDA should re-think if it wants to stay in market in future.

  6. In addition to the dullness and minimal response, CVT is prone to breakdown. CVT is on CRV, Accord, City, Jazz, and maybe the coming Civic,,,,, totally risky move and sales are going down big time… Am a Honda fan but going forward, will only consider buying a Honda when they get back to reality….

  7. stop these rumours, my cvt accord works fine from past 6 months

  8. Jack, its not a rumor… please read about it on google. In addition, am sure you have sensed a great difference between the regular Auto and the CVT. (I tried the CVT on the Murano and it was a hell-like experience from Dullness to malfunctioning….)
