STARTECH, a BRABUS group company, recently revealed pictures and details of their latest creation, the STARTECH Pickup, which is based on the latest Range Rover. It is set to be unveiled at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show.

Converting the Range Rover from an SUV to a pickup required STARTECH to design and build 100 bodywork components made with carbon-fibre, aluminium and steel.

STARTECH claim inteior space has not been compromised and still sit five adults comfortably. Despite the shortened roof, the panoramic sunroof is also fully functional.

About the cargo space, STARTECH mentions, “Consequently, the STARTECH Pickup offers plenty of space for golf or other recreational equipment. Especially customers from the Arab region like to use the pickup bed also for transporting a securely fastened cage that holds their falcons for the hunt.”

The interior also has been upgraded with leather, Alcantara and carbon-fibre elements, and colour co-ordinated with the exterior colour.

Under the hood, STARTECH says the customer has the option of having any engine that is currently on offer for the Range Rover. They can also add a sports exhaust system, which increases the power to 526 hp in the V8 5.0-litre supercharged version. It can go from 0-100 kph in 5.3 seconds and hit a electronically limited top speed of 250 kph.

Given the popularity of the Range Rover in this region, a few will most likely pop-up in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries after its launch.
