Mazda has confirmed details on one of their engines that will be available in the all-new 2016 MX-5.

The 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G 4-cylinder engine will produce 129 hp and 150 Nm of torque. It will largely be for markets such as Japan and Europe.

Exact details have not been revealed for the 2.0-litre engine that will be on offer as well. Reports suggest that it will produce about 155 hp and 200 Nm of torque, which means it will be less powerful than the previous generation model which produced about 167 hp. The idea is that less power is required since the new model is lighter.

It should arrive in the UAE and other GCC countries sometime next year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Mazda MX-5 buyer guide.

  1. Niceee. I like it, it looks cool. Reasonably priced and these will sell smoothly.

  2. maybe worth as the wife’s weekend cruiser, but never liked the precusors not this one

great job on the 6er though

  3. This is what you call a Sports Car 🙂 There’s no word on the auto ‘box but Mazda already have a 6spd auto they can use for this car. The Dealer will need to bring autos here if they have to register sales.

Personally, I’d go for the Manual…that’s how sports cars should be driven. I know the new Auto/DSGs etc. are faster but hey I’m old fashioned that way 😉
