Ford officially revealed the GT350R Mustang at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The American automaker describes it as a more track-ready version of the standard GT350.

Under the hood of the GT350R is Ford’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine, with the 5.2-litre unit producing more than 500 hp and 542 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard and it also gets a limited-slip Torsen differential with 3.73 axle ratio.

The exterior gets an aggressive aerodynamic bodykit, with the front splitter revised from the regular GT350 for more downforce and a carbon-fibre rear wing which moves the vehicle’s centre of pressure rearward while improving downforce and lift balance.

Inside the standard model, it is bare bones as items removed include air conditioning, the stereo system, rear seats, trunk floorboard and carpet, backup camera and emergency tire sealer and inflator. Exhaust resonators also have been removed for weight savings, so the GT350 R gets a sharper exhaust tone. All this deductions help make it 59 kg lighter than the GT350 Track Pack model. However customers can opt for the Electronic Package which adds comforts such as air conditioner, infotainment system and navigation.

The limited production Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang is due to release “later this year”, which we anticipate to be after the summer. Some could possibly make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries.
