2015 Land Rover Defender Celebration Series to mark last year of production
The iconic Land Rover Defender, around for more than half a century with only minor changes, is about to be discontinued, at least in its United Kingdom home market.
With a more modern version coming in a couple of years, Land Rover has announced three Celebration Series special editions of the current Defender to mark its departure after 68 years — a Heritage Edition in green with a white roof, an Adventure Edition with extra underbody cladding and off-road tyres, and a fully-loaded Autobiography Edition short-wheelbase Defender 90 with two-tone paintjob, Windsor leather interior and a slightly-upgraded engine.
Production of the current Defender will end in December at the Solihull assembly plant, but word is production may continue elsewhere outside Europe, likely to be sold in markets with looser emissions standards.
